MEMBERSHIP
COMMITTEE
The Membership
Committee is composed of individuals who are interested in
helping the Chamber with retention and recruitment. It's a
fun, energetic committee, composed of mostly sales professionals
and business owners who utilize this opportunity to generate
additional sales leads, all while helping the Chamber.
The committee meets
on the 3rd Tuesday of the month for lunch at a Chamber member
restaurant from 11:30-12:30. The amount of work that this
committee entails is minimal (approximately 1 hour a month,
unless you have MORE time to give).
AMBASSADOR
COMMITTEE
The Ambassador Committee
is made up of individuals interested in being the 'meeters
and greeters' and the 'movers and the shakers' at Chamber
Events. Ambassadors are an outgoing, dynamic group of
business people with a real desire to build relationships
with other chamber members. . .and to assist other members
to do the same!
The Ambassadors
meet and greet at networking events, at grand openings, and
whenever called upon to provide a chamber presence at community
happenings.
There is a committee
requirement that you sign a commitment form if you wish to
join the committee, and that you agree to attend at least
half of the Chamber events and meetings. We believe that
in order to be effective as a relationship building committee,
we need to be at the events.
This committee meets
the 4th Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
ECONOMIC
GROWTH COMMITTEE (EGC)
This committee serves as an advisory
body to the Burnsville City Council and the Chamber of Commerce
Board of Directors in the areas of economic development and
re-development.
The ECG meets the
2nd Tuesday of every month in the City Council Chambers at
7:30 a.m.
GOVERNMENT
AFFAIRS COMMITTEE (GAC)
This committee serves
as a proactive voice for the business community, monitors
business issues, educates the business community, and makes
recommendations to the Board of Directors. It also provides
a forum for communication between government and the business
community.
Business Day at the State Capital
and a trip to Washington DC are two events in which committee
members have the opportunity to participate.
GAC meets at 7:30
a.m. at the Chamber Office, usually on the 2nd Friday of each
month, but meetings can change to keep in tandem with the
State Chamber Conference calls.
'BITE'
OF BURNSVILLE COMMITTEE
The 'BITE' of Burnsville
is the Chamber's big annual fundraiser, usually held in February or March.
This fundraiser provides income to the Chamber, and
highlights our huge assortment of restaurant and catering
members. Silent and live auction fun, cash bar, entertainment,
along with a LOT of great food make up activities at the BITE!
The BITE Committee
begins to meet as early as September 2007. Depending on
the subcommittee you would like to be involved with, i.e.
decorations, silent auction, restaurants, etc., you can expect
to meet approximately every month to two weeks until
the event, and are expected to help with set up the day before
and of the event.
The BITE of Burnsville
will be held in February
of 2007 from 6 - 11 p.m.
GOLF
COMMITTEE
The annual Burnsville
Golf Classic is a great fundraising event for our members
and businesses who like to golf! We hold it at some
of the best courses in the area - all chamber members of course! The high caliber of golf, along with a day filled with networking
and delicious food, make the golf classic tournament one many
businesses want to hang their hat on as a sponsor.
The members of this committee have
a lot of fun planning this event!
Meetings begin approximately
three months before the date of the tournament, which changes
each year, but is usually held sometime in late in May or
June.
The 2008 Golf Classic is set for Monday, June 2nd at The Wilds Golf Club.
